22日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は続伸し、前日比142円82銭（0.64％）高の２万2362円55銭で終えた。前日の米株式相場の上昇や外国為替市場での円安・ドル高基調を支えに、自動車など輸出関連株を中心に買いが優勢だった。
21日の米ダウ工業株30種平均が約６カ月半ぶりの高値を付けたほか、米Ｓ＆Ｐ500種株価指数が過去最高値圏まで上げ、投資心理の改善を映した買いが先行した。米半導体株の上昇を手掛かりに、東京エレクトロンなど関連株への物色も目立った。
米中両政府は22日からワシントンで貿易問題を巡る事務レベルの協議を開く。22日の中国・上海株式相場は底堅く推移しており、米中貿易摩擦の激化懸念がひとまず和らいだとして、コマツなど中国関連とされる機械株も買われた。
朝方の日経平均は小幅に下げる場面もあった。トランプ米大統領の元個人弁護士が選挙資金法違反などの罪を認めたうえでトランプ氏の関与を明言し、米政治情勢の不透明感を嫌気した売りが出た。もっとも、米株価指数先物が底堅く推移したため売りは続かず、午後は円安進行に歩調を合わせて日経平均は上げ幅を170円まで拡大した。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比101.73ポイント（0.68％）高の１万5043.97だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も３日ぶりに反発し、12.95ポイント（0.77％）高の1698.37で終えた。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で１兆9848億円で、４営業日連続で２兆円を下回った。４日連続の２兆円割れは2017年12月25～29日（５日連続）以来。売買高は11億2133万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1564と、全体の約７割を占めた。値下がりは475、変わらずは65だった。
トヨタやスズキ、ホンダが高い。新日鉄住金など鉄鋼株も買われた。一方、ファーストリテイリングやＫＤＤＩが下落。ヤマトＨＤやエーザイの下げも目立った。
22日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比23円37銭（0.64％）高の3694円45銭だった。米中両政府の事務レベル貿易協議を前に大型株の上値がやや重いなか、値動きの軽い新興企業株に個人投資家の資金が向かった。
ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で449億円、売買高は8533万株だった。ユークスやメイコー、ＵＴが上昇した。半面、セリアやハーモニック、シノケンＧは下落した。
東証マザーズ指数も３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比20.24ポイント（2.13％）高い968.76だった。アンジェスやデータセクション、サンバイオが上昇した。一方、メルカリやエクストリム、ＵＵＵＭが下落した。
