23日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は３日続伸した。前日比48円27銭（0.22％）高の２万2410円82銭で終えた。アジアやオセアニアでの出店拡大が伝わったファストリが１銘柄で日経平均を約50円押し上げ、相場上昇をけん引。外国為替市場で円相場が１ドル＝110円後半まで下げ、輸出採算悪化への懸念が和らいだことも相場の支えとなった。

中国・上海株式相場が反発し、投資家心理を改善させた。上海株高にあわせて、短期志向の海外ヘッジファンドが日経平均先物に買いを入れた。値がさ株が主導する形で日経平均は上げ幅を100円あまりに広げる場面があったが、移動平均などチャート上の節目が集中する２万2400円台では利益確定売りが出やすく相場の重荷となった。

午後は膠着感を強めた。米中両政府の事務レベルによる貿易協議や、米カンザスシティー連銀主催の経済シンポジウム（ジャクソンホール会議）といった重要イベントを控えて積極的な売買を見送る投資家が多く、相場は方向感に欠いた。

トランプ米政権は米東部時間23日午前０時１分（日本時間午後１時１分）に160億ドル分の中国製品に対する制裁関税を発動した。中国側も同じ規模での報復措置で応じたが、予定されていた通りで株式市場への影響は限られた。

ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は小幅ながら反落した。終値は前日比14.12ポイント（0.09％）安の１万5029.85だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も反落し、0.15ポイント（0.01％）安の1698.22で終えた。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で１兆8214億円と、５日続けて２兆円を下回った。５日連続の２兆円割れは2017年12月25～29日以来。売買高は10億8192万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1317、値下がりは678、変わらずは109銘柄だった。

ＫＤＤＩやダイキンが高い。資生堂や花王といった化粧品関連株も買われた。一方、スズキやデンソーなど自動車関連株は安い。コマツと日立建機も売りが優勢だった。

23日の新興企業向け株式市場で日経ジャスダック平均株価は続伸した。終値は前日比32円77銭（0.89％）高い3727円22銭だった。10日以来ほぼ２週ぶりの高値。東証１部の主力株が伸び悩む中、値動きの軽い中小型株に個人投資家の資金が向かった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で468億円、売買高は7851万株。メイコーやＵＴが上昇し、日本テレホンやジャストプラが下落した。

東証マザーズ指数も続伸した。終値は前日比7.77ポイント（0.80％）高い976.53だった。ＡＬＢＥＲＴやモブキャストが上昇した。一方、メルカリが上場来安値を更新し５％安で終えた。22日上場のチムスピは６％安で終了した。
