東京市場の取引開始前にトランプ米大統領が中国の知的財産侵害に対する制裁関税を巡り新たに2000億ドル（約22兆円）相当の輸入品に10％の追加関税を検討するよう米通商代表部（ＵＳＴＲ）に指示したと発表。前引け前には中国商務省が米国の措置に対抗する姿勢を示したとも伝わり、両国の報復合戦が世界経済を傷つけるとの懸念が広がった。

米中摩擦激化を警戒した売りは休場明けの中国・上海市場や香港市場でも広がり、主要株価指数が大幅に下落。米シカゴ市場の電子取引で米株価指数先物が午後に下げ幅を広げたことも東京市場のムードを悪化させ、午後の日経平均はじり安の展開だった。コマツや日立建機など中国関連銘柄の下げが目立った。

東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も続落し前日比27.51ポイント（1.55％）安の1743.92で終えた。ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400も続落。終値は同240.77ポイント（1.54％）安の１万5440.16だった。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆6675億円。売買高は14億9463万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は全体の９割近い1827、値上がりは218、変わらずは46だった。

任天堂や三菱ＵＦＪが安い。トヨタや村田製作所も下げた。一方、マネックスグループやクボタが上げた。

19日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は続落し、前日比46円17銭（1.17％）安の3915円70銭で終えた。米中貿易摩擦の警戒感を背景に、投資家の運用リスクを取る姿勢が後退。新興株にも売りが優勢となった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で740億円、売買高は２億94万株だった。ハーモニックやラクオリア、セリアは下落した。半面、東映アニメやビーマップ、ユニバーサルは上昇した。

東証マザーズ指数も続落し、32.57ポイント（2.87％）安の1103.70で終えた。

ＵＮＩＴＥＤやラクスル、そーせいが下落した。ＡＬＢＥＲＴやアンビションが上昇した。
