25日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は４日ぶりに反発し、前日比13円78銭（0.06％）高の２万2450円79銭で終えた。トランプ米大統領が米朝首脳会談の中止を発表し、取引開始直後は一時前日比100円超まで下げた。会談実施に向けて交渉を継続するとの見方が強まって警戒感が緩み、短期志向の投資家が買い戻しに動いた。その後は週末接近に加えて手がかり材料も乏しく、小動きとなった。
トランプ大統領は会見で交渉余地を残す発言をし、北朝鮮の金桂官（キム・ゲグァン）第１外務次官も「米国に時間と機会を与える用意がある」との談話で応じた。米朝関係悪化の懸念が後退し、商品投資顧問（ＣＴＡ）など短期志向の投資家が買い戻した。日経平均は前日までの３日間で500円超下落していたこともあり、株価水準を割安とみた押し目買いも入った。
業種別にみると、景気動向などに業績が影響を受けにくいとされる、陸運や食料品などのディフェンシブ（防御的）株が買われた。ただ長期投資家などが手持ちの資金配分を調整したにすぎず、新たな買いを入れる動きにはつながらなかった。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は５日続落した。終値は前日比17.65ポイント（0.11％）安の１万5658.96だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も５日続落し、同3.95ポイント（0.22％）安の1771.70で終えた。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆2982億円。売買高は13億3317万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は600と、全体の３割弱。値下がり銘柄数は1390、変わらずは93銘柄だった。
セブン＆アイとＪＲ東海が年初来高値を付けた。資生堂やキリンＨＤも上昇した。一方、証券株が安く、大和証券グループ本社と野村ホールディングスが年初来安値を付けた。三菱商事や丸紅などの商社も安かった。
