８日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は小幅ながら３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比41円53銭（0.18％）高の２万2508円69銭で、２月５日以来およそ３カ月ぶりの高値だった。最近の欧米株式相場の堅調さを背景に、投資余力が増した海外投資家が日本株を買い増した。上げ幅は100円に迫る場面があった。一方、外国為替市場で円安に一服感が出ており、自動車など輸出関連株の一角が軟調だった。９日に2018年３月期決算を発表するトヨタが下げ、指数の重荷となった。
７日のニューヨーク・ダウ工業株30種平均が３日続伸し、ドイツ株式指数（ＤＡＸ）は連日で１％程度上昇した。東京市場でもＴＯＰＩＸ先物中心に海外勢の買いが入ったとの見方があった。
円相場は１ドル＝109円近辺で推移。５月初めまでの円安・ドル高の流れは小休止している。対ユーロでは１ユーロ＝129円台後半と約１カ月半ぶりの円高・ユーロ安水準を付け、採算悪化懸念から輸出関連株への買いが手控えられた。トランプ米大統領が日本時間９日未明にイラン核合意から離脱するかどうかの判断を発表することも投資家の様子見姿勢を強めた。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は続伸し、終値は前日比54.21ポイント（0.35％）高の１万5722.66だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も続伸し、6.64ポイント（0.37％）高の1779.82で終えた。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆6427億円。売買高は16億5580万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1373、値下がりは632、変わらずは78だった。
丸紅や三菱商事、住友商事が上昇した。アイルランドの製薬大手シャイアーに対して正式に買収提案すると伝わった武田は反発した。一方、三菱重工業や日本電産は下落した。日産自も安く、デンソーは年初来安値を更新した。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で540億円、売買高は9279万株だった。増益決算を発表した新日本建物や、通信事業者との資本業務提携を発表したアニメ企画・制作のＩＧポートも上げた。一方、株取引システムのＴワークスが下落。精密鍛造金型のニチダイは午後になり利益確定売りに押された。
東証マザーズ指数も３日続伸した。終値は前日比14.24ポイント（1.24％）高の1165.32だった。好決算を発表した医師向けコミュニティーサイトを運営するメドピアが上昇。アプリ紹介サイトのアップバンクも上げた。時価総額の大きいミクシィやそーせい、ＪＩＡも上げた。一方、携帯電話サイトのメディアＳは続落。貸会議室のＴＫＰも下げた。
