業種別東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ、全33業種）では、水産・農林業や不動産業、陸運業などが上昇した。国際情勢の先行きが不透明ななかで、内需関連やディフェンシブ（防御的）関連銘柄に買いが目立った。

日本時間の朝方に米通商代表部（ＵＳＴＲ）が中国の知的財産の侵害に対して発動する制裁関税の原案を公表。産業用ロボットなど約1300品目に25％の関税を課すと伝わり、電機株や機械株などに影響を懸念した売りが優勢となった。2017年度に大きく上昇していた銘柄に個人や機関投資家の利益確定売りも出た。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で683億円、売買高は１億280万株だった。ハーモニック・ドライブ・システムズやエン・ジャパン、ナカニシが下落した。半面、日本マクドナルドホールディングスやセリア、ユニバーサルは上昇した。

東証マザーズ指数は３日続落した。終値は前日比15.76ポイント（1.32％）安の1182.17だった。ミクシィやＣＹＢＥＲＤＹＮＥ、ＰＫＳＨＡ　Ｔｅｃｈｎｏｌｏｇｙが下げた。一方、そーせいやＵＮＩＴＥＤ、ＳＨＩＦＴは上昇した。
