前日比408円47銭（1.86％）高の２万2420円08銭と、1996年７月１日（２万2455円）以来約21年４カ月ぶりの高値を更新した。
上昇率は９月19日（1.95％）以来の大きさだった。
好業績を発表した電機株を中心に買いが広がった。
ジャスダック続伸、27年ぶり高値を更新。　マザーズも続伸

10月31日の米株高や円安・ドル高も日本株上昇の追い風となった。機関投資家の運用資産の入れ替えに伴う買いも入った。日経平均が月の最初の営業日に上昇するのは昨年７月から17カ月連続となった。急ピッチの上昇を背景に、市場では「売り方が損失覚悟の買い戻しを入れている」（国内証券の情報担当者）との声もあった。

衆院が１日午後の本会議で自民党の安倍晋三総裁を首相に選出したと伝わると、日経平均は２万2455円とこの日の高値を付けた。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で３兆7557億円。売買高は20億5682万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1248と、全体の61％を占めた。値下がりは704、変わらずは80銘柄だった。

今期の営業利益が20年ぶりに過去最高を更新する見通しと発表したソニーが大幅に上昇。今期の利益予想を引き上げた東京エレクトロンも大幅高となった。日東電工や京セラ、日本航空が上昇した。オリックスやコマツも買われた。一方、今期の純利益予想を下方修正した村田製作所が大幅安となった。任天堂や三菱電機、リクルートホールディングスも売られた。

東証２部株価指数は反発した。シャープと杉村倉庫が上げ、ベネフィット・ワンと三社電機製作所が下げた。

１日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は５日続伸した。終値は前日比５円69銭（0.15％）高の3718円72銭で1990年８月以来、27年３カ月ぶりの高値を付けた。電気自動車（ＥＶ）関連で１日に信用規制が解除されたシライ電子などが買われた。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で934億円、売買高は１億5154万株だった。Ｔホライゾンやフェローテク、ハーモニックも上昇した。半面、テックファムやアエリア、セリアは下落した。

東証マザーズ指数も５日続伸し、終値は前日比6.99ポイント（0.62％）高の1141.02だった。ＵＮＩＴＥＤや串カツ田中、ＭＳコンサルが上げた。ミクシィやそーせいなど時価総額上位銘柄の上昇が指数をけん引した。一方、ジーエヌアイやパークシャ、スキヤキが下げた。
