31日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は小幅ながら４営業日ぶりに反落した。終値は前日比６銭安の２万2011円61銭だった。前日まで上昇相場が続いたため、30日の米株安をきっかけに利益確定売りが優勢となった。外国為替市場で円相場が対ドルでやや強含んだのも嫌気され、トヨタ自動車など自動車株が下落した。
米携帯電話子会社の経営統合の中止が伝わったソフトバンクグループが下落し、日経平均を53円押し下げたことも重荷になった。朝方には日経平均の下げ幅が171円まで広がった。
半面、利益の伸びが期待でき割安感の残る銘柄には買いが入ったため、株価指数の下げ幅は小さかった。日銀は金融政策決定会合で金融政策の現状維持を決めた。上場投資信託（ＥＴＦ）の保有残高の増加ペースを年間約６兆円で維持したのも買い手掛かりとなり株式相場を支えた。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は続落し、前日比47.98ポイント（0.31％）安の１万5630.13だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も続落し、4.88ポイント（0.28％）安の1765.96だった。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で３兆5298億円。売買高は18億8801万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は864と全体の43％を占めた。値上がりは1073、変わらずは94銘柄だった。
国内化粧品事業の伸び悩みが懸念された花王が大幅に下落した。米長期金利の上昇一服で、三菱ＵＦＪは売られた。薬価の引き下げが伝わり、アステラスや中外薬など薬品株が下げた。今期経常益が一転減益になるぐるなびは年初来安値を更新した。
18年３月期営業益を上方修正した任天堂が大幅高となった。米アップルのスマートフォン「ｉＰｈｏｎｅＸ」の増産が伝わり、アルプスや日東電工など関連銘柄は上昇した。４～９月期純利益が41％増だったオークマが上げた。東京エレクトロンは年初来高値を更新した。郵船によるＴＯＢを発表した郵船ロジスティクスは大幅に上昇した。
東証２部株価指数は４営業日ぶりに反落した。シャープとベネフィット・ワンが下げた。一方、三社電機製作所やＦＤＫは上げた。
31日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は４日続伸した。終値は前日比10円38銭（0.28％）高い3713円03銭。連日で年初来高値を更新し、1990年８月３日以来ほぼ27年３カ月ぶりの高値を付けた。円高・ドル安進行による大型株の弱含みを受け、業績が為替変動の影響を受けにくい内需関連の新興銘柄に買いが入った。良好な決算を発表した好業績銘柄の売買が膨らんだ。もっとも上値では高値警戒感から利益確定売りも出て、前日比で下げに転じる場面もあった。
生産性向上による費用減で2018年３月期の純利益見通しを上方修正したワットマンが一時制限値幅の上限（ストップ高水準）まで上昇した。27日に18年３月期の純利益予想を引き上げた日本コンピュータ・ダイナミクスにも買いが集まった。ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で635億円、売買高は9650万株だった。アエリアやテックファームホールディングス、フェローテックホールディングスも上げた。半面、五洋インテックスやＵＥＸ、ＹＫＴは下落した。
東証マザーズ指数も４日続伸した。終値は前日比4.89ポイント（0.43％）高い1134.03だった。メドレックスやジーエヌアイ、メタップスが上昇した。ＰＫＳＨＡ Ｔｅｃｈｎｏｌｏｇｙやスキヤキ、そーせいが下落した。
