外国為替市場で円相場が対ドルで強含み、投資家の買い手控えムードが強まった。東エレクトロンやファナックなど値がさ株が下落し、日経平均を押し下げた。午前の東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）が上昇で終え、日銀の上場投資信託（ＥＴＦ）買いが見送られたとの観測が広がったのも午後に下げ幅を広げる要因となった。
３月期決算企業の中間配当などが得られる最終売買日にあたるため、権利取りの買いや機関投資家の「配当再投資」に伴う先物買い需要を意識した買いは入った。日経平均の下げ幅が12円ほどに縮小する場面があった。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆5341億円。売買高は17億8031万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は732、値上がりは1189、変わらずは107銘柄だった。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で801億円、売買高は１億3622万株だった。電気自動車（ＥＶ）関連として人気が高まっていた田中化研が下落した。幼児教育無償化の政策期待から上昇した幼児活動研も利益確定売りが出た。一方、次世代高速コンピューターの量子コンピューター関連とされるＹＫＴやＮＦ回路には引き続き買いが入った。
東証マザーズ指数は反落した。終値は前日比12.97ポイント（1.22％）安の1052.53だった。仮想通貨関連とされるメタップスが売られた。時価総額の大きいミクシィやそーせいも下落した。一方、上場３日目で人工知能（ＡＩ）のアルゴリズムを開発するパークシャや、太陽電池の製造装置を開発するエヌピーシーが上昇した。
