１日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は小幅ながら３日続伸した。終値は前日比45円23銭（0.23％）高の１万9691円47銭だった。前日の米株高を受け、投資家心理が上向いた。外国為替市場で円相場が１ドル＝110円台前半で推移し、円高による過度な業績下振れ懸念が後退したことも買い安心感につながった。８月の米雇用統計など主要経済統計の公表を前に、持ち高を減らしていた投資家の買い戻しが入った。日経平均が週間で上昇するのは７月10～14日の週以来７週ぶり。月初の上げは15カ月連続となった。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は３日続伸し、前日比12.72ポイント（0.09％）高の１万4337.13だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も３日続伸し、2.18ポイント（0.13％）高の1619.59だった。業種別ＴＯＰＩＸでは「倉庫運輸関連」が上昇する一方、「情報・通信業」が下落した。規模別株価指数では「小型株」の上昇率が大きかった。
日経平均は一時89円ほど上げたが、上値を追う買いは入らなかった。上昇した場面では主力株に持ち高調整の売りが出た。午後には前日終値を26円程度下回る場面もあった。内閣府が14時に発表した８月の消費動向調査で、消費者心理の基調判断を「ほぼ横ばいとなっている」に下方修正したことも買い控えにつながった。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で１兆9028億円。売買高は16億3044万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1222と全体の60％だった。値下がりは663、変わらずは138銘柄だった。
2016年11月～17年７月期の決算を発表したパーク２４が大幅高となった。営業増益報道のあったヤーマンの上げが大きかった。新株予約権付社債（ＣＢ）の発行と自社株買いを発表したＡＮＡＨＤは上げ、三菱電やクボタも上昇した。半面、ＫＤＤＩやダイキンなど値がさ株の下げが目立った。ＮＴＴやハウスが下落し、ニューヨークのオフィスビル開発計画への参画が伝わった三井不が軟調だった。17年４～９月期に減損損失の計上を発表した第一三共も下げた。
東証２部株価指数は４日ぶりに反発した。東芝や富士通コンが上げた。一方、ＦＤＫや日精機は下げた。
１日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は９日続伸した。終値は前日比６円20銭（0.18％）高い3453円48銭だった。1990年８月21日（3465円43銭）以来となる高値を付けた。値動きの大きい銘柄に個人投資家の買いが集まった。
ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で914億円、売買高は１億8175万株だった。明豊エンターやＭｉｐｏｘ、ラクオリアが上昇した。半面、ブロッコリーや山王、デジアドは下落した。
東証マザーズ指数は３日続伸した。終値は前日比7.02ポイント（0.64％）高い1107.82だった。臨床試験の開始を発表したそーせいが一時、およそ２週間ぶりに１万円台を回復した。時価総額の大きいそーせいが指数を押し上げたほか、メタップスやエンバイオＨも上昇した。一方、上場３日目のＵＵＵＭは初値の過熱感から大幅安となった。インフォテリやアカツキも売られた。
