日米金利の低下一服で、これまで下げ基調だった三菱ＵＦＪや三井住友ＦＧなど銀行株の一角が買われた。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆2810億円。売買高は17億7035万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1198と、全体の59％を占めた。値下がりは723、変わらずは102銘柄だった。ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は続伸し、88.12ポイント（0.62％）高の１万4324.41。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も続伸し、9.76ポイント（0.61％）高の1617.41だった。

英アストラゼネカによる買収提案が伝わった第一三共が大幅高となった。ＪＦＥや伊藤忠などが上昇。ＳＯＭＰＯやセコムも高かった。一方、ＪＸＴＧや三菱電、ヤマトＨＤが下げた。キーエンスが年初来高値を付けたあと売りに押され下落した。

31日の新興企業向け株式市場で日経ジャスダック平均株価は８日続伸した。終値は前日比33円57銭（0.98％）高の3447円28銭と、1990年８月21日以来27年ぶりの高値を連日で更新した。東証１部の大型株が大幅に上昇し、投資家心理が上向いた。新興企業市場では好業績が出たゲーム関連株が活発に物色された。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で1105億円、売買高は１億8743万株だった。山王やＳＥＨＩが上昇した。半面、ブロッコリーやデジアドが下落した。

東証マザーズ指数は続伸した。終値は前日比4.73ポイント（0.43％）高い1100.80だった。アカツキやインフォテリが上昇した。そーせいとサイステップが下落した。

一方、東証２部株価指数は３日続落した。半導体メモリー子会社の売却について取締役会で決定しなかったと発表した東芝が下落。シャープとリミックスが下げ、朝日インテクや象印が上げた。

８月の日経平均は月間で278円（1.4％）安となり、２カ月連続で下落した。
