It dislikes the yen's appreciation and sells it to economically sensitive stocks, however, domestic demand shares will not support a drastic fall.

The Nikkei Stock Average fell back on the 17th Tokyo stock market and ended at 14,814.88 yen, down 104.29 (0.53 percent) from the previous day. The selling which disliked the yen 's further height has spread to export, economic sensitive stocks such as resources and finance. Meanwhile, domestic demand related stocks were bought and supported the lower price.
In the foreign exchange market, the yen appreciated against the dollar / yen against the dollar to the 112 yen level. Press buying and dollar selling pressure strengthened from suspicion of information leakage by US President Trump. Selling was dominant for export related items including transportation equipment. Long-term interest rates declined with dollar selling, insurance shares fell sharply. Resource-related stocks such as oil coal products and trading companies were also cheap, as crude oil futures in New York fell on overtime transactions.
On the other hand, buying came in domestic demand related stocks such as foodstuffs and electricity and gas industry. In the market, there was a voice saying "One of the domestic demand shares with strong performance is being bought by overseas investors" (domestic securities trader).
JPX Nikkei Index 400 has fallen. The closing price was 80.11 points (0.57%) lower than the previous day at 10,463.86. The TSE stock index (TOPIX) closed down and fell 8.41 points (0.53%) at 1575.82.
The trading value of TSE 1 department is estimated at 2,492.7 billion yen on an approximate basis. Trading volume was 1,964.47 million shares. The number of stocks in the first section of the TSE accounted for 1287, accounting for 64% of the total. Price rise was 630, unchanged 98 stocks.
Dai-ichi Life HD and T & D greatly lowered. Sumitomo, Mitsui, and JXTG's conspicuous losses were conspicuous. Yamato HD and Mitsubishi Electric, Nomura is also cheap. 17日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は反落し、前日比104円94銭（0.53％）安の１万9814円88銭で終えた。円相場の一段高を嫌気した売りが輸出や資源関連、金融などの景気敏感株に広がった。一方、内需関連株には買いが入り、下値を支えた。
外国為替市場で円相場が１ドル＝112円台前半まで円高・ドル安が進んだ。トランプ米大統領による情報漏洩疑惑から円買い・ドル売り圧力が強まった。輸送用機器をはじめ輸出関連は売りが優勢だった。ドル売りに伴い米長期金利が下落し、保険株が大きく下げた。ニューヨークの原油先物相場が時間外取引で下落したため、石油石炭製品や商社など資源関連株も安かった。
半面、食料品や電気・ガス業などの内需関連株には買いが入った。市場では「業績が好調な内需株の一角には海外投資家を中心とした買いが入っている」（国内証券トレーダー）との声があった。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は反落した。終値は前日比80.11ポイント（0.57％）安の１万4063.86だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）は反落し、8.41ポイント（0.53％）安の1575.82で終えた。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆4927億円。売買高は19億6447万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は1287と、全体の64％を占めた。値上がりは630、変わらずは98銘柄だった。
第一生命ＨＤとＴ＆Ｄが大きく下げた。住友商や三井物、ＪＸＴＧの下げも目立った。ヤマトＨＤや三菱電、野村も安い。一方、東ガスや味の素、武田は上昇した。業績が好調な東エレクも買われた。新作ゲームへの期待から任天堂が上げ、年初来高値を付けた。
東証２部株価指数は小幅に続伸した。個人の押し目買いが入り、指数を押し上げた。朝日インテクとマーキュリアが上げ、シャープとウェーブＨＤが下げた。
17日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は小幅に３日続伸した。終値は前日比66銭（0.02％）高の3088円57銭で連日の年初来高値の更新となり1991年７月以来、25年10カ月ぶりの高値を付けた。為替の円高で日経平均株価が反落したのと対照的に、情報セキュリティーのアズジェントやゲームのアエリア、創薬ベンチャーのラクオリアといった内需株の多いジャスダック銘柄に買いが入った。利益確定の売りも出て、上げ幅は限られた。
ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で680億円、売買高は7659万株だった。セグエＧ、アイビーやアバールは下げた。
東証マザーズ指数は３営業日ぶりに反落した。終値は前日比3.73ポイント（0.35％）安の1066.88だった。ソレイジアやミクシィ、そーせいが下落した。ドリコム、ＴＫＰやグレイスが上昇した。
