２日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は３営業日ぶりに反落した。前日比244円32銭（1.47％）安の１万6391円45銭とこの日の安値で取引を終えた。債券相場の急落で外部環境の不透明感が増し、投資家心理が悪化して運用リスクを避ける動きが強まった。

前日の海外株式相場の軟調な推移や原油先物相場の大幅下落を受け、朝方から幅広い銘柄に売りが出た。その後は債券相場の急落を受け、日銀が９月の金融政策決定会合で「これまでの金融緩和政策の見直しに踏み切るのではないか」との見方から先行き不透明感が強まった。外国為替市場で「低リスク」とされる円が強含んで、輸出関連株などの一段の売りにもつながった。

後場中ごろには日経電子版などを通じ「麻生太郎財務相が２日夕、日銀の黒田東彦総裁と都内で緊急会談することが明らかになった」と伝わった。きょう経済対策を決める政府と前週末に追加緩和を決めた日銀が連携姿勢を確認する見通しだが、相場の反応は限られた。

２日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は３日続伸した。終値は前日比７円16銭（0.29％）高い2481円53銭だった。日経平均株価が大幅安となるなど東証１部上場の大型株が売られる半面、個人投資家が値動きの軽い新興株に買いを入れた。市場では「任天堂株を売買していた個人の資金が、バイオ関連など新興市場の主力株に還流している」（国内証券）との見方が出ていた。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で255億円、売買高は5878万株だった。主力銘柄で構成するＪＡＳＤＡＱ―ＴＯＰ20は３日続伸した。ＦＶＣやセリア、アイサンテクが上昇した。半面、インタライフやマクドナルド、セプテニＨＤは下落した。

東証マザーズ指数も３日続伸した。終値は前日比18.77ポイント（2.00％）高い958.03だった。そーせいやブランジスタ、イーガーディが上昇した。半面、フリークアウやＵＮＩＴＥＤ、ＣＲＩが下落した。
