１日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は続伸し、前週末比66円50銭（0.40％）高の１万6635円77銭で終えた。午前は下げ幅が200円を超える場面があったが、その後上げに転じた。上げ幅は一時100円を超えた。外国為替市場で円相場が伸び悩み、輸出関連株の採算悪化懸念が和らいだ。
日銀が７月29日に上場投資信託（ＥＴＦ）の買い入れ額の倍増を決め、これを手掛かりに指数寄与度の大きなソフトバンクなど値がさ株へ引き続き買いが入った。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）型ＥＴＦも買い増すため、時価総額の大きいメガバンクも上げた。日銀は当座預金の一部への金利のマイナス幅を据え置いたため、一段の業績悪化の懸念が後退したのも引き続き銀行株の支えになった。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は小幅に続伸した。終値は前週末比5.20ポイント（0.04％）高の１万1885.15だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）は小反落し、0.91ポイント（0.07％）安の1321.83で終えた。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆4867億円、売買高は24億409万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は508と、全体の約26％を占めた。値下がりは1384、変わらずは78銘柄だった。
自社株買いと消却を発表したＨＯＹＡが大幅高となった。三菱ＵＦＪとりそなＨＤが買われ、武田やアステラスも上げた。ＪＦＥとＮＴＴの上げも大きかった。一方、2016年４～６月期が営業減益だったパナソニックは大幅安となり、野村と東エレクの下げが目立った。関西電は年初来安値を更新した。
東証２部株価指数は反落した。１日から２部に市場変更となったシャープの終値は２円安の90円だった。Ｊミートとローツェも下げた。アートＳＨＤとランドコンピが上げた。
８月１日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は続伸した。終値は前週末比５円39銭（0.22％）高い2474円37銭だった。テーマ性のある銘柄に個人投資家の資金が流入し、相場を押し上げた。ただ、新たな材料には欠けるなか午後に入ると売買が鈍った。
ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で262億円、売買高は6541万株だった。インタライフやテックファム、ネクスウェアが上昇した。半面、マクドナルドや夢真ＨＤは下落し、午前に高かったセリアも売られた。主力銘柄で構成するＪＡＳＤＡＱ―ＴＯＰ20は続伸した。
東証マザーズ指数は続伸した。終値は前週末比18.86ポイント（2.05％）高い939.26だった。そーせいやミクシィ、サイバダインが上昇した。一方ＣＲＩやブランジスタ、リファインＶが下落した。
