18日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は４日続伸した。前日比310円61銭（1.42％）高の２万2158円20銭で終え、２月27日以来、約１カ月半ぶりの高値をつけた。17日の米株式相場が上昇。米政府高官と北朝鮮の金正恩（キム・ジョンウン）委員長が会談したとの米紙報道も手伝い、投資家心理が改善して幅広い銘柄に買いが入った。
米ワシントン・ポスト（電子版）が日本時間午前９時前に「次の米国務長官に指名されたポンペオ米中央情報局（ＣＩＡ）長官が数週間前にトランプ米大統領の特使として北朝鮮を極秘に訪問し、金委員長と面会していた」と伝えた。米朝首脳会談の準備が進んでいるとの見方につながり、東アジア情勢が安定に向かいつつあるとして運用リスクを取る動きを促した。
ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は反発し、前日比171.07ポイント（1.12％）高の１万5485.76で終えた。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も反発。終値は19.69ポイント（1.14％）高の1749.67だった。
東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆5467億円、売買高は14億5861万株だった。東証１部の値上がり銘柄数は1733と、全体の８割強を占めた。値下がりは286、変わらずは63銘柄だった。
任天堂やソフトバンクグループ、ファーストリテイリングが上昇。前期業績が上振れした戸田建が大幅高となった。一方、マネックスグループや東京エレクトロンが下落。スルガ銀行の値下がりが目立った。
18日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比36円41銭（0.94％）高い3918円55銭となった。北朝鮮などを巡る地政学的リスクの後退や17日の米株式相場の上昇を受けて投資家心理が改善し、新興市場にも資金が流入した。もっとも売買は低調で、好材料の出た銘柄への個別物色や、直近大きく下落していた銘柄への見直し買いの動きが目立った。
ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で502億円、売買高は8932万株だった。売買代金は今年最低となった。無線通信機器開発のネクスグループやネット求人大手のエンジャパン、精密減速機メーカーのハーモニックが上昇した。半面、レジャー施設運営の伊豆シャボテンリゾートや半導体製造装置部品のフェローテックホールディングス、創薬ベンチャーのラクオリア創薬は下落した。
東証マザーズ指数も３営業日ぶりに反発し、終値は前日比21.68ポイント（1.95％）高の1135.87だった。音声認識技術のＡＭＩや駐車場の上部空間開発のフィル・カンパニー、携帯ゲームのミクシィが上げた。一方、スマートフォン（スマホ）広告のＵＮＩＴＥＤや創薬ベンチャーのそーせい、理化学機器製造のＪテック・Ｃは下げた。
