31日の東京株式市場で日経平均株価は続落し、前日比153円96銭（0.81％）安の１万8909円26銭で終えた。終値は節目の１万9000円を４日ぶりに下回った。午後に期末を控えた国内機関投資家の利益確定売りが膨らんだ。年度末を迎えた31日の日経平均は年度ベースで2150円59銭（12.83％）上昇した。

午前の東京外国為替市場で円相場は１ドル＝112円台の円安・ドル高に振れ主力株に海外収益の改善を期待した買いが入ったが、午後は売りに押された。13時過ぎから、期末を控えて国内機関投資家が中小型株や先物などに利益確定売りを出した。前日の米金融株高を受けて上昇して始まった金融株も売りが優勢となり、三菱ＵＦＪなどメガバンクは下げに転じた。

ＪＰＸ日経インデックス400は３日続落した。終値は前日比128.57ポイント（0.94％）安の１万3522.45だった。東証株価指数（ＴＯＰＩＸ）も３日続落し、14.99ポイント（0.98％）安の1512.60で終えた。

東証１部の売買代金は概算で２兆5881億円。売買高は22億2223万株だった。東証１部の値下がり銘柄数は1677と、全体の８割を超えた。値上がりは270、変わらずは65銘柄だった。

経営統合を見送った森永は大幅に下落し、森永乳は売りが集まり制限値幅の下限（ストップ安）で値を付けた。資生堂と旭化成は下げ、商社の丸紅や住友商、三井物が下落した。

一方、半導体メモリー事業に米社から２兆円の買収提案があったと報じられた東芝は大きく上昇し、時価総額は１兆円を回復した。東ガスと中部電は上昇し、ファストリと楽天も上げた。ソニーは連日で昨年来高値を更新した。

東証２部株価指数は反発した。シャープと朝日インテクが上げ、ＭＣＪとＪトラストは下げた。

31日の新興企業向け株式市場で、日経ジャスダック平均株価は３営業日ぶりに反発した。終値は前日比９円61銭（0.32％）高い3045円84銭だった。値動きの軽い中小型株を選好する動きが続き、直近の新規株式公開（ＩＰＯ）銘柄や業績拡大期待の強い銘柄に買いが入った。日経平均株価が下げに転じるなど主力株相場が弱含むと、ジャスダック平均も上げ幅を縮小した。

ジャスダック市場の売買代金は概算で528億円、売買高は7433万株だった。アズジェントやケアサービス、クルーズが上昇した。ブロッコリーやＮｏ．１は午後に下落に転じた。平田機工も下げた。

東証マザーズ指数は反発した。終値は前日比6.27ポイント（0.59％）高い1070.89だった。ＴＫＰやアスカネット、ジーエヌアイが上昇した。一方、ＷＡＳＨハウや業績見通しを下方修正したＣＲＩが売られた。主力株のそーせいも小幅安に転じた。
