朝方は空売りをしていた投資家の買い戻しが入り、日経平均は100円超上昇する場面があった。ただ、上値を追う動きは乏しかった。
外国為替市場で円相場が一時１ドル＝100円21銭近辺に上昇し、企業の輸出採算が悪化するとの懸念が強まった。
８日や10日に決算期末を迎える上場投資信託（ＥＴＦ）が多く、運用会社が分配金を捻出するために現物株や株価指数先物に換金目的の売りを出したとの見方も聞かれた。
